- Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.

Develop a 34 page paper that discusses the implementation of a major change to an organization’s health information management system. You are expected to provide examples and encouraged to apply the concepts to your work setting if possible.
For this assessment you will cover a variety of topics, including information systems, computer applications, data, benchmarking, change management, and leadership theories.
Quality management is a science that is heavily dependent upon data-driven decision-making. In healthcare, information systems are used to collect, store, and report health information and data, and quality management tools and techniques are used to assess, measure, and evaluate the quality of service and patient care. Ensuring quality in healthcare is essentialmistakes may compromise private information, cause needless suffering, or even deathso data, data collection, and data presentation are vital. It is important to understand the different types of data needed to assess efficacy and efficiency of healthcare services, and how organizations use benchmarking to set goals, that is, identify points of comparison and trends in statistical data. The increased use of electronic health records and the connection of health data with health information exchanges will create new challenges and opportunities. Health information must be securely managed to ensure privacy and condentiality, yet available to advance evidence-based medicine to make better patient care decisions.
Healthcare is a rapidly evolving eld with constant change. There are many external factorssocial, economic, political, and technicalthat inuence and drive change. There are also internal factors, including organizational culture and sufficient resources. Managers and leaders must understand how to facilitate effective change to guide and inuence organizations. Change management concepts, team leadership theories, and management skills are essential to understanding how effective decisions are made to ensure organizational growth and success. There are differences between managing and leading; however, there is considerable overlap in the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for each.
First, select a topic relating to implementing a major change to an organizations health information management system. Draw upon the various ideas and concepts that you have explored in the course.
Your paper is expected to:
- Identify and describe the databases, systems, or IT applications that could be impacted by the change.
- Describe the specific stages of the information life cycle are relevant or impacted by the change.
- Identify the relevant laws that must be considered (for example, HIPAA, HITECH).
- Explain how the change might affect the management of patient data and/or clinical knowledge.
- Discuss the common reasons why technology change efforts fail and how these factors can be proactively managed to improve the likelihood of success.
Your assessment should meet the following requirements:
- Length: 34 typed, double-spaced pages, not including Reference page; at least 750 words, but no more than 1,000 words.
- Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
- Written Communication: Content must be clear and well organized, with correct spelling, grammar, and syntax.
- References: In addition to the textbook, you must use at least two recent articles (no more than 5 years old) published in professional or scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals.
