Introduction

This weeks module looked at how the United States changed during and after World War II. We learned how the attack on Pearl Harbor drew the nation into the war, leading to events like the use of the atomic bomb. We also looked at the start of the Cold War and the Civil Rights Movement, including the Brown v. Board decision that overturned Plessy v. Ferguson. During this time, America rose as a global superpower, but the growth of government and the limits placed on civil rights showed the contradictions of the era.
