- Explain why Emile Durkheim believed that crime is part of human nature and healthy for society.
- What are the good things and bad things about this perspective
- Explain Wilsons position as summarized in the Criminology in Action block on page 183 of your text.
- In the conclusion, Wilson argued that most kids in disadvantaged neighborhoods are looking toward the future not crime. Does this fit with social theories discussed in Chapter 6 or 7? Or is it a BioSocial or Rational Choice position?
- Consider the statement: Social learning theories assume that people are born good and learn from others to be bad; social control theory assumes that people are born bad and must learn from others to be good (Siegel, 2023, p. 230).
