Answer
1- When selecting toys and art materials for young children, what factors should you consider to ensure they are safe and age-appropriate?
I would choose toys and art materials for young children that are safe and match the child age level. It is very important for us to check the age label of a child to make sure that the toy is right for the child’s age because some toys have small parts which are very dangerous for younger children.
I would also look for non-toxic labels, especially for art materials like markers, paint, and glue. These materials should be safe because sometimes children touch them or accidentally put them in their mouths. Another important thing is to check choking hazards. I would also check that the toy is strong and well made so it doesn’t break easily.
2-What are your top five tips for protecting children from common indoor safety hazards?
1- We should keep away hot items from the reach of children because children don’t know to stay away from hot items, also children are at a higher risk to burn because they have thinner skin that burns more quickly, so we should take care a lot to stay away from burning items.
2- We should have safe storage to keep everyday items like cleaning products, medicine, alcohol, tobacco, vape pens and other dangerous objects, these items should be locked in a safe place because even small amounts of these items are very dangerous for children.
3- We should make sure that the babies sleep on their backs in a safe bed, and also we shouldn’t leave children alone near the water even in a bathtub.
4- We should use safe materials and avoid harmful chemicals and try to choose non-toxic art supplies.
5- For the safety of children, we should keep small toys out of reach of children because small pieces of toys can cause choking or internal injuries.
Think of a local playground or playgrounds you played on as a child?
The playground should have a soft surface, the equipment should be wood chips or sand and it should be at least 12 inches deep to prevent children from injuries when they fall. The playground should be safe and it needs regular checking and maintenance, so we should make sure children are safe and stay protected.
