Answer each of the following 8 questions. Unless otherwise noted, each answer should be a minimum of 6 sentences long (unless otherwise noted), comprehensive in subject matter, and written grammatically correctly. Please upload your responses as a Word doc.

- Explain what Foua and Nao Kao mean by A little medicine and a little neeb.
- Dee Korda, Lias foster mother, believed that Lia Lee should NEVER have been separated from her parents. What were the reasons for this belief?
- What was the outcome of changing Lias medication to Depakene, as prescribed by Dr. Terry Hutchison while she was under foster care?
- Describe at least two of the traditional medicinal practices or treatments that Foua and Nao Kao used to treat Lia Lee’s illness.
- Describe Lia’s medical condition after “the big one.”
- How well prepared for the change in way of life would you say the Hmong refugees arriving in the U.S. were?
- Were the medical personnel in Merced, California well prepared to treat Hmong patients in the 1980’s? Explain why or why not. (8-10 sentences)
