Written Assignment #1

Written Assignment Rubric:

Two written assignments related to a course topic are required. Each paper must be 6 pages in length (Title Page + Reference Page + 4-page report = 6 pages). No abstract is required. The papers must contain detailed topic background information and relevant contemporary details (e.g. History of JJS, Juvenile Gangs, The Juvenile Court System, Violent Juveniles, Juveniles and Drugs, etc.). Papers should incorporate key terms, concepts and theories discussed in class. Papers must be properly formatted using APA standards (7th Ed.). Each paper is worth 25 points. Please refer to the handout on the course Canvas page for specific information and instructions on the format.

The papers must contain:

(1) title page,

(2) reference page,

(3) 12-font, double spacing,

(4) minimum of three peer-reviewed sources,

(5) body of the report is minimum 4 pages,

(6) No abstract required.

Points:

Topic Information: 9 points (is the topic relevant to the course? Is the information current/contemporary issue?)

Mechanics: 5 points (Proper grammar, sentence structure, good flow of information, reads well)

APA format: 7 points (proper APA format (7th Ed.) consistent throughout the paper, including title, reference page, in-text citations.

Followed Instructions: 4 points (turned in by due date? 4 pages in length? Paper contained a minimum of three peer reviewed sources?)
