Diagnostic Essay Reflection (optional extra credit)
This is an optional assignment based off of your experiences with the Diagnostic Essay. Within this assignment, you may only complete it if you have taken the Diagnostic Essay. This assignment, coupled with the Diagnostic Essay’s completion, will grant you 10-15 extra credit points (dependent on detail and effort) to start the semester off with (it may not seem like much, but that covers a missed assignment).
To complete this, answer the following questions:
a) What is a foundational component of yourself that if someone were to ask you to describe in one characteristic or quality about you that “sums you up” pretty effectively…what would that be and why?
b) Explain what you took away from this exercise in terms of your own answers (reflect on who you are/have always believed yourself to be and then consider how you rationalized and made your decisions into the scenarios).
c) While this was just an exercise, you made certain choices. What did those choices show you about yourself?
d) Now that you have had additional time to think about it, would you have chosen anything differently? What would you do and why? Would people that know you be surprised by your decisions? What does that suggest?
Now please read your peers’ submissions. Find 2-3 and comment about their own revelations (paragraph each). How do you connect/disconnect to them?
