PechaKucha Presentation: A Journey Through the Human Lifespan

Objective– For this assignment, you will step into the role of a TED-Style Speaker on Human Behavior. Your goal is to design and deliver an engaging, fast-paced presentation that introduces a key topic in lifespan psychology to a general audiencesuch as parents, students, or community members interested in human development. Delivering a big-picture, thought-provoking perspective on a single lifespan psychology concept.

Examples of Single Lifespan Psychology Concepts:

  • Attachment Theory: How early bonds shape relationships across the entire lifespan
  • Identity Development: The journey of “Who am I?” from adolescence through late adulthood
  • Cognitive Development: How thinking and reasoning evolve from infancy to old age
  • Physical Development and Aging: The body’s changes and adaptations throughout life
  • Social Development: How relationships and social skills change across life stages
  • Emotional Regulation: How people learn to manage emotions from childhood to late adulthood
  • Memory and Learning: How memory systems develop, peak, and change with age
  • Moral Development: How ethical thinking evolves from childhood through adulthood

Instructions:

Traditionally, a PechaKucha is a presentation style where you show 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds. For this assignment, you will still create 20 slides in PowerPoint but instead of recording or timing yourself, you will provide a written explanation for each slide.

  1. Create Your Slides:
  • Prepare 20 slides using images, charts, diagrams, or visuals related to your topic.
  • Keep text on slides minimal use keywords or brief phrases to highlight important points.
  1. Write Your Slide Notes:
  • For each slide, write a short paragraph (35 sentences) explaining the main idea or key information of that slide.
  • Imagine this is your script or what you would say if you were presenting live.

Formatting and Submission:

  • Upload your PowerPoint to the assignment Submissions Area by the due date assigned.
  • Use APA format for the citation and any references included.
  • Proofread your assignment for spelling, grammar, and clarity.
