This course includes a staged Strategic Analysis Report project for which you will submit research components each week. For this weeks stage, you will analyze the external environment for the organization you selected. Description: Perform research on the organization to learn about and understand the strength and impact of the industry forces and macroenvironmental forces for the industry the organization competes in and complete Part 2 External Environment Analysis of the Strategic Analysis Report. You may want to utilize: industry analyst reports; the organizations website, annual report, and general news; and competitor websites, annual reports, and general news. Your written work for this and all assignments in this course should follow APA style guidelines, and should be uploaded to the assignment submission folder in this module. Refer to the Library and Learner Support in the Getting Started section if you need additional help with APA. In two to four pages, synthesize your research and understanding of the industry in which the business you selected competes to complete the following sections: Industry Overview Describe the primary industry or market segment that the business competes in. If the business competes in multiple industries, choose one specific industry or market segment for the focus of your analysis. Describe the size of the primary industry or market segment and growth rate (can be in terms of revenue or volume, can be for current or recent years). List two to three close competitors to your chosen organization and provide a brief description of the business. Describe the relative concentration of the industry (if possible, determine approximate market share for your business and for your selected competitors). External Environment Analysis Analyze and describe the current strength of each of the Five Forces (threat of entry, substitutes, suppliers, customer, and competitors) in this industry or market segment. Analyze and describe the impact of applicable macro-environmental factors on the industry including political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental (PESTLE). Describe current trends impacting the industry. Describe how each of the Five Forces may change in the future (5 to 10 years), either positively or negatively and determine overall if this industry or market segment is becoming more or less attractive.
