Instructions
Objective: Analyze the dataset and begin writing sections of your final report.
Instructions:
You will submit two files:
- A written report (Word file or typed directly)
- An Excel file showing your calculations and graphs
Steps:
Identify Variables
- List each variable in the dataset.
- State whether the variable is qualitative or quantitative.
- Identify the scale of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio).
Descriptive Statistics
- For each quantitative variable, compute measures of center (mean, median).
- Compute measures of spread (IQR, standard deviation).
- Comment on any potential outliers.
Graphical Analysis
- Choose one variable and create a histogram.
- Use the graph to discuss the shape of the distribution (symmetrical, right-skewed, left-skewed).
Written Summary
- Write a 150200 word report summarizing your findings. Include:
- How the variables are measured
- Center and spread of the data
- Shape of the distribution
- Presence or absence of outliers
Tips:
- Use the Excel lab manual as needed.
- Functions like AVERAGE() and STDEV.S() can be used for calculations.
- This assignment will contribute to your methods and descriptive results section of the final case study report.
