In this assignment you will focus on developing an understanding of the 9 social work core competencies. You will connect 4 competencies to real life experiences or media examples and present this information in a 7-10 minute formal presentation.

Instructions:

• Choose 4 CSWE Core Competencies and for each, provide:
• A clear definition of the competency in your own words
• An illustration of the competency using:
• A case study from Rivas & Hull (limit 1 competency per case), OR
• A real-world example (from personal experience or current events)
• A brief reflection on why this competency matters to you
• Conclude your presentation by reflecting on:
• Overall takeaways
• Which competency you feel strongest in
• Which competency you want to learn more about or develop more in yourself
• Reference Slide:

Tips for your presentation:

Visual Design

• Consistent fonts, colors, and layout
• Avoid clutter or overly busy slides

Video Presentation

• Record yourself presenting the slides.
• Speak clearly and professionally.
• Use complete sentences, avoid reading directly from slides.
• Show enthusiasm and understanding of the content.
• Keep the total presentation between 710 minutes.
• Test audio and video quality before submitting.

Professionalism Expectations

• Dress appropriately for a professional setting.
• Use professional, respectful language throughout.
• Demonstrate confidence, preparation, and subject knowledge.
• Follow ethical standards of confidentiality if discussing personal cases.
