In this assignment, you’ll begin developing your argumentative voice by exploring disagreements related to a social justice issue that connects to your major (my major is nursing). You will not just describe the issue, you’ll start building a thoughtful, structured argument using Paul Grahams Hierarchy of Disagreement. This will help with your final paper. Identify your assigned social justice topic: Indicate your major: Develop a working thesis statement that connects the issue to your major or future profession: Your thesis should make a claim. It does not have to be your personal belief, yet, but it should be arguable. Use at least four of the Hierarchy of Disagreement to begin developing your argument (reference the required reading or the PowerPoint for chapter 4) some are below: What are some of the name-calling that surrounds this topic/thesis? What is some points a of attacks around this topic? What is the tone (feelings/pathos) that people have about this topic and why? Identify at least one contradiction around your thesis, often spoken but not factual. Identify at least one contradiction that is supported by facts. How has your topic/thesis been refuted by arguments shared? What insights have you gained about your topic/thesis? Do you need to rethink your thesis before moving on?
