A Research Logic Model is a visual representation of the research activities designed to evaluate the impact, efficiency, effectiveness, or success of the policy, program or initiative reflected in the Program Logic Model. The two models are related. Research Logic Models are designed to answer specific research questions aligned with expected outcomes. Research Logic Models allow us to examine broader questions of impact and change (See Table 1 and 2 below).

Research questions should be a reflection of the organizations larger goals and/or strategic initiatives. For example, how does the Title I program support instruction? What types of existing data could you rely on in a school district to answer this question? How have anti-DEI policies impacted the racial demographics of matriculating students across different types of post-secondary institutions? At a program level, how does X program impact students willingness to attend classes regularly?
Data sources are a list of the existing data or variables that can be used to effectively answer the research questions. It also reveals the gaps in data and the need for data collection.
Type of Data categorizes the type of data.
Data Analysis indicates how you will analyze the data, qualitatively, quantitatively, or the interaction between the two.
