Reflection

Each group participant will submit a separate document outlining:

Part 1: Clarify your role in the group presentation along with a general description of your group dynamic (one page). I was responsible for the first 4 slides not the cover page nor the second that describes the assignment mine began from the description of the Early Start Denvor Model, then the theoretical foundations, multidesciplinary ……., and Developmental focus.

Part 2: Each participant will also outline your own personal growth in doing the project. What prior knowledge did you have before doing the research project? What did you learn about the intervention? What did you learn from the person-first perspective (autistic individuals or family members that support the autistic person)? What were the pros and cons of the intervention? (one page). Make sure to incorporate two class readings in your reflection with APA citation.

Part 3: Reflecting on what we’ve learned and discussed in class, each student will write an inclusion statement of approximately 250 words that answers the prompts:

  • What ideas and lessons from this class most resonate with you?
  • What is your specific commitment to students with autism after taking this class?

Please incorporate references to readings from the last week module 6 in your inclusion statement along with any other readings that would help support your writing from other modules. Make sure to use APA citations.

Please note this piece was published in 2011, but I believe is still a great overview of the field. There are some updates to the research which we will cover in our first class.
