Based on your readings from M.K. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., reflect on your feelings and opinions concerning civil disobedience. Your response should be a minimum of 400 words and include 12 MLA citations from the course readings, using in-text quotes rather than paraphrasing.

Questions to Address:

1. Is civil disobedience an effective means of changing society? Consider the dangers of this kind of resistance. Should individuals be prepared to go to jail (as did Gandhi, King, and their supporters) or enter into volatile situations, knowing they might experience bodily harm or even death, in order to make a point? Could the American civil rights movement have moved forward without this strategy in place?
2. What stood out to you from your reading of Letter from a Birmingham Jail? What was Dr. Kings strategy for dismantling racist systems?
