Instructions Segregation: Redlining Assignment The discriminatory practice of redlining is arguably the core historical process that shaped racial and class segregation in US cities. I am asking you to explore research to develop your own understanding of redlining and its significance. For this assignment, you are asked to write a focused analytical essay, in which you are to break down and examine the core components of redlining based on your review of secondary scholarly sources. Using search engines such as Google and Google Scholar, select 3-5 secondary sources to develop an analysis of redlining practices and the ongoing socioeconomic consequences of redlining for cities. Your essay should focus on the practice of redlining specifically; try to avoid broader discussion of segregation (be mindful of the assignments word limit). Please note: You must include a bibliography (not counted in the assignments word limit) that lists all sources which you have consulted in writing the essay and you must cite sources within the essay itself (e.g, Smith 2021: 76-78). You may use any standard citation style (MLA, Chicago, etc.), just use whatever style you decide upon consistently throughout the essay. The document text must be formatted with 11 or 12 point font, double spacing. The MAXIMUM WORD COUNT for your analytical essay is 675 words.
