This assignment is a small qualitative research project. We have to pick a domain of occupation (Which I did for Part 1) and then narrow it down to (1 specific activity) Within that domain.
After that, we create one research question about that activity.
Then we have to interview about 45 people using at least 4 open-ended questions
(Which I did for Part 1)
The questions should ask about their experiences with that activity, how often they do it, what it means to them, and any challenges they have.
After we collect their answers, we analyze the responses by looking for patterns or themes in what people say.
For example, if several people mention stress relief, routine, or motivation, those become themes.
Then we write a short paper using the template
Using Method Project Part 1
The paper Must include
Introduction explain the occupation and the research question
Personal reflection our own thoughts before interviewing people
Methods who we interviewed and how we did the interviews
Results the themes we found from their answers with quotes
Discussion what we learned and how it relates to occupational therapy
Limitations what the study may have missed or what could be improved
Basically, the goal is to understand how people experience everyday activities and analyze their responses, similar to how OTs learn about clients daily occupations.
