Psychology Unit III

This assignment measures your mastery of ULOs 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 5.1.

The assignment will include two parts. Part I will consist of questions to be answered. Part II will require the development of a flyer.

Part 1:

In Units I, II, and III, we learned about the definition of psychology, the brain and nervous system, and consciousness and sleep. Use two pages and respond to the following prompts.

1. Explain ethical considerations related to psychological studies as outlined by the American Psychological Association.
2. List and define five researcher types found in psychology.
3. Choose a historic theorist and explain their contributions in the field of psychology.
4. Explain how psychology changed from a philosophical discipline to a scientific discipline.
5. List and describe the four major perspectives in psychology.
6. Describe the differences between psychologists, psychotherapists, and psychoanalysts.

Part 2:

Sensation refers to an actual event, while perception refers to how we interpret that event. Sleep is a unique state of consciousness. It is a reduced state of consciousness in which the brain continues to be active. The consciousness that we experience during sleep is dreaming. For this assignment, you will create a flyer to help your client or organization to improve their quality of sleep.

You will create a one-page informational flyer about the importance of sleep.

Your flyer must include the following:

• 1 Sleep theory
• 1 Theory of dreaming
• 1-2 Mental benefits of sleep
• 1-2 Tips for improving the quality and quantity of sleep.
• Include 1-2 visuals that tie into the theoretical content and components.

Your paper will be a minimum of three pages (two pages for part I and one page for Part II). Use at least two sources for the assignment. Both sources must be from the CSU Online Library. You can also use the course textbook and other outside sources in the assignment. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.
