Professionalism and Transitional Issue

For this assignment, read Chapter 6, “Patient, Subordinate, Workplace, and Professional Advocacy,” Chapter 11, “Career Planning and Development in Nursing,” and Chapter 13, “Organizational, Political, and Personal Power,” in your Huston (11th edition) textbook. Review the resources provided in Module 4 Professionalism and Transitional Issues for additional information beyond the textbook to complete this assignment.

In lieu of completing Section 1 (Professional Nursing Organizations) and Section 2 (Professional and Political Advocacy) of the Professionalism and Transitional Issues Assignment, students may attend MNA Lobby Day at the Mississippi Capitol on January 28, 2026 (in person), or the MNA Legislative Nursing Summit beginning on February 24, 2026 (virtual). Details for the MNA events can be found at and click on Events. Information is also available on these events in Module 4 in Canvas. MUW faculty representatives will attend each event, both in person and virtually, and the student can validate attendance with an MUW BSN faculty member during the event. One MNA event will count for both Sections 1 and 2. For example, if a student attends the MNA Legislative Nursing Summit, then the student does not have to complete Sections 1 and 2 on the assignment. Attendance at these events is optional. It is not mandatory. The student will still complete Section 3 Career Planning on the assignment.

Regarding Section 3 – Career Planning, Handshake, you should receive an email from Handshake asking you to confirm your email. You can upload/screenshot this email if you do not receive an account confirmation email. You may also upload/screenshot your Handshake account information.
