Professional Reflection Essay

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW Leadership is often defined not only by theory, but by what we expect leaders to beand what we actually observe them doing in real organizational settings. This assignment asks you to critically examine the gap between your preconceptions of effective leadership and the leadership behaviors you currently observe in practice. Begin by reflecting on the leadership qualities that matter most to you and how those expectations were shaped by your experiences. Then, select one leader you have directly observed (e.g., a supervisor, manager, team leader, or organizational leader) and critically analyze that leaders actions using three leadership concepts from this course. Your analysis should focus on specific behaviors and decisions rather than general impressions. Next, reflect inward. Identify areas of leadership you personally need to strengthen and describe specific situations in which these shortcomings became apparent. Finally, explain how you will intentionally apply course concepts to improve your leadership practice in a current or future professional setting. Your reflection must be grounded in direct observation, personal experience, and course-specific material. Generalized descriptions of leadership or hypothetical examples will not receive full credit.
