Assignment overview In this assignment, you are invited to share your personal context and motivations for studying law, together with an outline of how you intend to integrate your studies in your personal or career aspirations. In 2021, the Law Council of Australia (LCA), through The Lawyer Project, carefully scrutinised the legal sector and in particular the contributions that it makes to the social, economic and political health of the nation. The Lawyer Project Report articulated five categories of contribution and examined how the legal sector makes contributions in those areas. The categories explored in the Report are: Contribution to the Australian economy; Contribution to the administration of justice; Contribution in times of emergency; Contributions to public policy; and Social and community contribution. By reference to the contribution categories articulated in that Report, you are invited to share your personal context and motivations for studying law, together with an outline of how you intend to integrate your studies in your personal or career aspirations. In preparing your reflection, you may like to consider and respond to the following questions: Do any of the categories in The Lawyer Project Report personally resonate with you and your aspirations? What previous experience or background do you bring to your studies that shape the particular contributions you would like to make? Why is this personally important to you? Have any particular events prompted you to undertake legal studies? What research have you conducted into potential career pathways and why do those pathways appeal to you? Your reflection must be supported by some research and relevant sources. One of the key items being assessed, is your ability to practically apply AGLC4 to a written piece of work (including appropriate use of footnotes, stylised headings and bibliography).
