Reflect on what skills you would like to enhance or develop and what goals you would like to achieve both from a personal and professional perspective. These can be short term, such as being able to make the perfect souffl or joining a professional nursing organization, or long term, such as writing a novel or achieving a doctoral degree.
- In addition to having a personal and professional growth plan, it is important to reflect on self-care strategies you utilize to take care of yourself. After reading the Williams et al. (2022) article , provide a brief description (12 paragraphs) of the self-care strategies you use or would like to explore to incorporate self-care as part of your work-life-school balance using supporting literature.
- Also, consider health equity and recommend one way as a nurse how you can improve health equity in your current nursing practice.
Following this units assigned reading and videos on developing a plan for personal and professional goals, use the SMART goals acronym to develop the following:
- Two personal short-term goals (to be achieved within a year)
- Two professional short-term goals (to be achieved within a year)
- Two personal long-term goals (to be achieved within 510 years)
- Two professional long-term goals (to be achieved within 510 years
Considering your goals:
- Identify two barriers in achieving your personal or professional development goals.
- Identify two strategies that can help you overcome barriers to professional development.
The assignment should be a Microsoft Word document in APA format (7th ed.) with a range of 23 pages, excluding the title and reference page, and must include the following:
- Correctly formatted title page
- Introductory paragraph on what your paper is going to address
- Discussion of why these goals are important to you
- Outline of your eight specific goals (download, fill in and then copy/paste the completed SMART template into your paper)
- Brief description (12 paragraphs) of the self-care strategies you use or would like to explore as part of your work-life-school balance, using supporting literature
- Correctly formatted APA citations and reference page
- Use of three (3) or more current, peer-reviewed scholarly references, correctly cited, to support your plan
