Hallmark Assignment Part A: Final Project Paper

This semester we have examined Decision-Making in Nursing. Many objectives have been addressed and met. Please take a moment to reflect on the outcomes of the course which are listed below and develop a scholarly paper at least 8 pages in length stating how you have met the outcomes of this course. Your paper should include the following:

• A thoughtful reflection and careful critical analysis which connects learning to clinical decision-making and future practice.
• An identification and discussion of each course outcome, supported by evidence, with a detailed and specific personal example demonstrating meeting this outcome in a clinical setting.
• A deep understanding of nursing outcomes, integrating evidence-based practice.
• A minimum of four (4) research sources with at least 2 sources from a peer-reviewed publication. Sources must be relevant, accurate, recent (less than 5 years old), reliable, and add strength to the overall content.
• Working hyperlinks for all sources.
• A minimum of 8 content pages. Title and references pages do not contribute to this count.

Course Outcomes

1. Demonstrate understanding and competence in making decisions in nursing which will promote client-centered care, taking into consideration ethical, clinical, cultural, spiritual, and political implications.
2. Demonstrate intentional learning with reflection as it relates to decision-making in nursing.
3. Understand processes of making decisions in nursing and apply evidence in supporting concepts and processes which relate to practice.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of how decision-making in nursing practice relates to clinical reasoning and critical thinking, taking into consideration the many facets of decision-making in nursing.
5. Demonstrate leadership in organizational, local, and global environments as it relates to decision-making in nursing.
6. Communicate effectively and therapeutically, with and without the use of technology, while making decisions in nursing practice.
7. Propose evidence-based, culturally competent nursing care which promotes standard safe practices along with error and hazard prevention and quality improvement practices.
8. Participate as a collaborative team member in understanding and implementing client care, and in promoting the health of clients while making decisions as nurses in practice.

Criteria:

• Analyzes each of the eight course outcomes with a detailed explanation of how each outcome impacts nursing practice citing a reference for each explanation and provides a detailed reflection of a personal experience that connects to each of the eight course outcomes.
• Four research sources with at least two peer-reviewed publications are used throughout the essay to support the analysis of the eight course outcomes. Articles are current (within 5 years), relevant to nursing, and can be validated or retrieved.
• Demonstrates scholarly writing that is organized, contains appropriate headings, and has page numbers. Contains a minimum of eight content pages in addition to a title and reference page.
• Adheres to APA formatting throughout with fewer than 3 grammatical or typographical errors that do not distract from the readability of the work; includes title page, headers, in-text citations, and references.
