Nonverbal Leadership Final Paper Assignment Sheet – Lead Without Saying a Word Length: 1012 pages OR multimedia equivalent Format: APA 7th Edition | Times New Roman, 12 pt | Double-spaced OR Multimedia Equitant Assignment Overview Words are powerfulbut leaders often make their greatest impact without speaking. For your final assignment, youll explore how nonverbal communication shapes leadership presence, influence, and trust. But instead of a traditional research paper, youll choose one of three creative formats to demonstrate your understanding. Choose Your Format Option 1: The Silent Leader Profile (Written Paper) Write a profile of a real leader whose nonverbal communication defines their leadership style. Interview this person and analyze gestures, posture, facial expressions, tone, and presence using course theories. You may choose someone such as, a coach, activist, boss and/or a mentor, for example. (Interview recoding must be submitted, as well. This will be a Zoom recording or you can set up a camera for an in-person interview.) Option 2: Leadership in Motion (Video or Visual Essay) Create a short video (8-10 (can go up to 12) minutes) or visual essay (e.g., annotated photo series or storyboard) that analyzes nonverbal leadership in action. You can use public figures, film scenes, or even act it out yourself. Must include a written reflection (3-5 pages) connecting your analysis to course concepts. (The video platform you use for this assignment is up to you, as long as the professor can open and access the file.) Option 3: The Nonverbal Leadership Manifesto (Creative Writing) Craft a manifesto or guidebook for silent leadership. Use storytelling, metaphor, and theory to describe how leaders can inspire, guide, and connectwithout relying on words. Think along the creative writing spectrum, for example, How to Lead Like a Jedi, The Art of the Silent CEO, or Leadership Lessons from a Look.
