Assignment Description: Students will view a film and analyze abnormal behaviors of the character(s) through the lens of psychological science. Select a film that portrays a character or characters who is/are experiencing a psychological disorder/mental illness.

Required elements (USE SECTION HEADINGS BELOW):

1. Introduction: provide basic information about the movie. This should include a 1-2 sentence introduction to the movie, the title and director, publication information (year released, length of the movie), genre, the movie’s thesis (or theme), and the mental health disorder highlighted in the movie.
2. Summary of the plot: Identify the main character(s) and describe the setting. What is the point of the movie and/or the main aspects?
3. Director’s purpose: How did the director achieve his/her purpose? Use specific examples.
4. Accurate depiction of the disorder: Was the disorder accurately depicted or were the symptoms/treatment misrepresented or inaccurately depicted? Use support from external sources and the textbook to support your opinions.
5. Effectiveness of acting/writing/music: Discuss each element and whether each aspect was effective. Use specific examples.

7. Personal response: What is your overall response to the movie? Why?
8. Recommendation: Would you recommend this movie to others? Why/why not?
9. Conclusion: What impression did the movie leave with you? What do you want potential viewers to know about the movie before watching it? Why?
