An important issue in evaluating health (including mental health) policy is the effect on the U.S. economy and the costs. One example from the text is that automobiles are cheaper to manufacture in Canada than in the U.S. because Canada does not have to include the cost of healthcare (they have a single-payer system) in the price of the cars.
