M7 Discussion

After reading the content of this module, contribute to this discussion around nonverbal cues. Follow these steps to participate.

Directions

1. Find a short video clip of a scene from a movie. It can be an animated film, a romcom, drama, etc. Please be considerate of the audience and don’t choose anything that may be overtly sexual or offensive.
2. Identify two nonverbal cues you see in the film clip (e.g. gestures, eye contact, facial expression, movement, tone of voice, etc.).
3. In your discussion post:
4. Once you have selected the two cues, identify which of the six functions from the apply to the interaction (e.g. repeating, substituting, complementing, regulating, or contradicting verbal messages).
5. Share your impression of the interaction and how you believe the nonverbal behavior influenced the interaction.
