IMRad Essay

I have uploaded an example and guide line to follow. The Eng 112 is the data gathered from the survey and all the responses. Below is the some of the other knowledge you need.

Target Audience

The target audience for this survey consists of my personal friends and family members who are young adults aged 18-30. I chose this demographic because they are generally interested in ethical and moral questions, and they are comfortable sharing their opinions openly. This age group is also likely to reflect a range of perspectives on moral dilemmas, making their responses valuable for understanding how young adults think about issues of right and wrong. I believe that they tend to answer surveys honestly which will provide me with insights into their moral reasoning.

Hypothesis

Based on previous research and my informal conversations, I hypothesize that most respondents will choose to take actions that save the greatest number of lives, such as pulling a lever to divert a train and save five people at the cost of harming one. However, I expect some individuals to express moral reservations about intentionally causing harm, leading them to choose against pulling the lever or pushing the large person. I also anticipate that personal morals such as prioritizing saving lives versus avoiding direct harm will influence their responses.

Survey Questions

The survey has both questions about who you are and questions about moral dilemmas. The questions about who you are ask things like your age and what level of school youre in. These help me understand the answers better and see if age or education affects how people think. The main part of the survey has three well-known trolley problem scenarios, which are stories about tough moral choices. After each story, theres a question asking how okay or right you think the action is, using a scale from 1 to 5. Theres also a space to explain why you made that choice. These questions help me see not just what people decide, but also why they think that way and what morals or ideas they are using to make their decision.

Mode of Distribution

The survey will be distributed privately on my Snapchat story, which allows me to reach my target audience directly. This mode ensures that all respondents are people I personally know and who fit the age range, increasing the likelihood of honest and thoughtful answers. Using an online platform also makes it easy for participants to complete the survey at their own pace and convenience, which should improve response quality. I chose this distribution method because it is familiar, quick, and ensures a manageable number of responses, aligning with my goal to gather honest insights from my personal network.

Rationale

The target audience I chose is young adults, like my friends and family, because they are at a stage in life where they often think about moral questions and tough decisions. My hypothesis is based on previous studies that show peoples moral answers are shaped by their personal values and how they reason through problems. I think Ill see this in how they answer the survey. The questions are made to be clear, interesting, and make people think, so theyll honestly share their opinions. Im planning to share the survey on my Snapchat story because its easy and convenient to reach my friends and family directly. This way, I can get responses from people I know and who fit my target group.
