Overview
Digital innovation in health care has become standard, so exploring new digital technologies like artificial intelligence is key. This can be expensive to implement and maintain, but will be essential in keeping the market share as patients evaluate facilities for their healthcare.
Scenario
As a health administrator, you have been given an assignment from the CEO to evaluate the implementation of a digital innovation that focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), which could improve the delivery or efficiency of service and provide a new source of income (if adopted) including helping with the perception of being the premier facility in the area.
Preparation
In the , review the digital technologies that drive transformation and select one of the following that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI):
- Experiencing the Future of Surgery.
- AI-assisted Multi-Organ Image Interpretation.
- Zooming in on AI-Based Image Interpretation.
- The Changing Role of the Radiologist in the Age of AI.
Instructions
Develop a 6-slide PowerPoint presentation that includes speaker notes used for the in-depth communication of the content on each slide. Use the following format:
- Slide 1 – Title page.
- Slide 2 – Provide background by discussing three different U.S. healthcare delivery systems and how each might make use of artificial intelligence. (1 slide).
- Use the information from the Week 9 Activity for this slide.
- Slide 3 – Describe the selected digital AI innovation and the rationale for the selection.
- Slide 4 – Discuss the viability of the specific AI digital innovation based on the target audience/patients and the healthcare facility where it will be used. Questions to consider:
- What types of institutions would this make sense for, in your opinion?
- What types of institutions are currently using it?
- What are the details of the healthcare facility where this innovation will be used?
- Are there enough patients to justify this AI innovation in the proposed setting?
- Slide 5 – Provide a high-level description of the resources (i.e., information technology services, staffing with position and role) that would be needed to implement the innovation.
- Slide 6 – Sources page.
- Use a minimum of 3 sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate.
- Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment, using in-text citations on each slide.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:
- Describe the U.S. healthcare delivery system and its components.
- Demonstrate effective communication styles used by leaders across the healthcare system considering factors such as employee role, patient culture, socioeconomic status, and the impact to quality of care.
