Great Works of the Past (Focused Analysis)

Students are tasked with demonstrating knowledge of the humanities and humanistic inquiry by authoring a thesis-driven response to one of the prompts below. Papers must be no fewer than 1,300 words but should not exceed 2,250. Option 3: Great Works of the Past (Focused Analysis) For this option students are invited to author an original interpretative analysis of a significant artifact or text from the assigned course materials. Options for this assignment include evaluating the specific claims of authors of assigned course readings. They might also evaluate and/or interpret the meaning, significance, or appeal of some aspect of a literary work, such as Antigone, the poetry of Sappho, paleolithic Venuses, Catalhoyuk, the Snake Goddess, The Analects, The Dhammapada. Note that all papers must directly discuss and cite at least two readings assigned in this course
