NOTE: All film reactions (maximum 5) may be uploaded to the same folder. If you are turning them in all at once, you may put them in one document, but if so, put a note at the top so that your TA will know there are multiple reactions in a single document, and will not miss subsequent pages. Alternately, you may upload each one separately to the folder. For guidance on interacting with Bruin Learn, contact the IT helpdesk at bruinlearn-support@it.ucla.edu Film options are listed below, and are available in the public domain or through Kanopy, using your free UCLA subscription. To complete a film reaction, view the film on your own time, and write a minimum of 200 words (no maximum), sharing your thoughts and reactions to the film. Citations are not required for film reactions, unless you use a source besides the film (optional). If you do cite, follow the formatting instructions in the assignment guidelines section of the syllabus. Each completed film reaction is worth 2 points, and you may complete a maximum of 5 film reactions for credit. 1) “Documenting Hate: Charlottesville”: 2) “Last Day of Freedom”: 3) “Raging Grannies”: 4) “Where is Hope — The Art of Murder”: 5) “Fannie Lou Hamer: Voting Rights Activist”: 6) “Deaf Jam”: 7) “Prescribing Death: The Opioid Crisis”: For written assignments, please use double-spacing, 12-point font, and insert page numbers. No particular essay style is required, but your papers should involve paragraphs, rather than notes. When citing materials, you may use any academic citation style (e.g. APA, MLA, ASA), as long as you use it consistently. You must cite all sources used. You may use footnotes, endnotes, or in-text citations with a bibliography, to cite your sources. Uploads may be in PDF or Word only. Bruin Learn will not open documents uploaded in Pages, or other alternate word processing software.
