My assignment is to write a 20 page paper on a social justice issue in relation to maternity care or birthing. I am told it is not an argumentative paper that picks sides. We are just exploring a topic. You do not have to convince me or my teacher of anything. It is also not a description of other people’s work. Think and make connections. Think about the connections made between what people are saying. Make those connections. When you are positioning yourself feel free to use personal pronouns. Try to not individualize a group as all and use words like several or many allowing for more diversity of experience and not framing one group as all the same. Some other words can be profoundly or significantly. Particular or often understood or can be tied. Also if you cant add the phrase I think to the sentence thenit needs to be cited. I have already made an skeleton structure to guide you and I have my topic and themes and exactly what i want used and covered figured out. if you are going to use external sources apart from the readings i want used, then make sure they are North American. The external sources used should add to the significance of your connections not add to the meanings mentioned in your readings. Teacher mentioned that my outline is sounding like a thesis and i should follow my themes without going beyond their scopes and touching too many things in my research where it takes away from the importance and strength of this paper. If that happens just say This is beyond the scope of this paper. Citations need to vancouver style, if that is too difficult just give me APA and ill fix it myself. Also a major thing is do not use direct quotes, always paraphrase if your taking something from a reading.
