I would like to inform you about my thesis titled Experiencing Hedonic Pleasure: How Gender Shapes Emotional Engagement in Everyday Personal Care Routines.
The main focus of this thesis is the exploration of hedonic pleasure in everyday beauty and skincare routines and how gender influences this experience. The research examines the consumption of beauty products not only as a functional practice related to improving appearance, but also as an emotional and sensory experience that contributes to personal well-being.
Through qualitative interviews, the study explores how men and women experience, interpret, and integrate personal care routines into their daily lives. The findings suggest that these routines function not only as practical habits but also as moments of self-care, emotional regulation, and personal attention.
At the same time, the research highlights the role of social perceptions of gender and digital media in shaping how individuals perceive and experience the pleasure derived from beauty practices.
The thesis is approximately 15,000 words and is based on qualitative research involving 16 semi-structured interviews.
The submission deadline is April 1st.
