Assignment Overview

The executive summary is designed to provide a quick concise overview of your project as you approach the end of the implementation phase. The executive summary should provide a status update on the project and serve as an easy reference for executive questions. Below are the key items that you will include in the Executive summary provided.

  • Complete the Executive Summary using the template provided.
  • Content should be addressed to speak to Senior Leadership. Some examples include: CNO, CNIO, COO, Vice President, Senior Director.
  • Follow the assignment instructions and rubric expectations described below to present each of the following:
  • Statement of Project Status
  • Summary of Analytics
  • Recommendations
  • Conclusion

Provide a project status update as you are nearing the end of implementation. Include a summary of the analytics for data collected within your project; address project objectives within your analysis. Provide recommendations for the project based upon the data analysis. Remember to keep your recommendations focused, bulleted on key next steps or requests from the executive leader. Provide a conclusion; the conclusion typically addresses the importance of the work. Remember that for a project to be successful, it needs to address the triple constraints of time, costs, and scope. Addressing these in the summary (or showing progress towards their attainment) is very important. An executive summary for a project summarizes the most important parts of your project phase.
