Reflection on PACO 506

What? The first thing I noticed about the process of this class was it was going to be a lot on my plate with all the other things I have going on in my life. After I swallowed that, I buckled down to learn and take in all that I could in the timeframe we had. I was surprised to find that I did so well, and my grades reflected my effort with being out of school for over 20 years. The assignment that stood out to me the most was on a client that could have ADHD. In Johnson’s book, Psychology and Christianity, he says, respect the scientific merit of psychology, and concluded that, Christian faith and contemporary psychology should not be related. This was very interesting to study. I also enjoyed reading how others in the class viewed this situation. It’s good to know that not every counselor is for everyone and not every client is good for every counselor.

So, what? The patterns and conclusions that I saw in myself was to keep going, and that I can do this. Throughout my life I have set myself aside to attend to my children and or family or even my church. I learned thru this experience that it’s ok to take the time for myself and when doing so you grow and have more to give to others. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Resting in Him in during this course has been the best medicine. The fact that we get to do this every day, even with our clients, is the best take-away for me!

Now what? Now, the journey for me is better set up with the knowledge that has been given to me. I feel better prepared for my next class now knowing how Liberty’s system works, learning how to submit assignments and even how to make pamphlets and slideshows, when I didn’t have that experience before. Time management is something that I need to work on in the future. I found when I didn’t allow the proper time to work on my weekly assignment, I would get really stressed. I think that I will be using information from the personal integration theory comparison assignment. This comparison is neatly laid out to quickly see different viewpoints.

Thank you for this journey and have a great rest of your year! -Sarah Daley
