Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to examine the concept of quality health care within the healthcare system and to analyze the factors that influence the quality of care delivered across diverse healthcare settings. Quality and patient safety are shared responsibilities among all healthcare professionals, regardless of discipline. Healthcare organizations are required to continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve care delivery to achieve optimal patient outcomes and ensure safety.

Most healthcare organizations utilize quality improvement (QI) processes or teams to assess performance, reduce errors, and promote evidence-based practice. Numerous internal and external factors affect the quality of patient care, includingbut not limited togovernment regulations, healthcare policy, reimbursement models, patient demographics and socioeconomic factors, organizational culture, resource availability, and leadership effectiveness. Health science professionals play a critical role in supporting quality initiatives through collaboration, ethical practice, and effective use of resources.

This assignment encourages students to critically evaluate how quality of care is defined, measured, and influenced, and to explore the role of healthcare professionals and leaders in advancing quality and safety across the healthcare continuum.
