To prepare:

  • Review the Learning Resources on the joys of working with adolescents.
  • Research a recent (within the past year) media story about adolescents making a positive difference in their communities.
  • Think about how often adolescence is described in society using negative terms and consider how social workers could use their knowledge to flip the script to promote a positive narrative about the joys and opportunities of this time period.

Post:

  • Briefly describe your selected media story and the impact that the adolescents have had on their community.
  • Describe how the work of the teens in your story demonstrates resiliency in this generation of adolescents.
  • Explain what social workers can learn from the adolescents featured in your story and from their generation at large.
