Current Issue in Leadership

You are playing the role of a team leader whose team has been given the responsibility of improving customer service at a consumer electronics megastore. Before jumping into this task, you decide to use situational leadership and normative leadership decision models to guide your actions. Today, you are going to meet with three team members individually to estimate their developmental level with respect to performing the customer-service-improvement task. You will want to estimate both their competence and commitment to perform the task. You need to determine their readiness for this upcoming change. You decide to create a presentation. Within your presentation, respond to the following points:

  • Identify useful skills for implementing the situational leadership model and the normative decision model.
  • Explain the differences between the situational leadership model and the normative decision model.
  • How can you use Kotters 8-Step Process for organizational change during your future career?
  • Explain and evaluate your experience with organizational change. (This can be from your employer, club, church group, or family unit.) How did you facilitate the change, and was it successful?

Your completed PowerPoint presentation must be at least eight slides in length, not counting the title and references slides. Additionally, at least two peer-reviewed or academic resources must be used. Keep the text on the slides concise, and use the notes section to fully explain your ideas. All sources used must be cited and referenced according to APA Style.
