In this response paper you will reflect upon and write about your social position in relation to your race and ethnicity using the sociological imagination. Include experiences that you feel comfortable sharing. You will analyze readings that you will research in relation to the social constructs in your own life. While considering your privileges, you will also analyze societal the oppressions you have faced in your life. In other words, analyze the current obstacles in your life, how you are responding to those challenges and resistance strategies; additionally, examine your privileges and think about how they help you overcome societal barriers. If you do not consider yourself to have privileges, reflect how your non privileges have impacted your race and ethnicity. Think critically about your coping strategies, how you have shown resiliency and how you have reached out for help. Also, write about the societal barrier(s) that have been the most difficult for you to break and the most challenging to find assistance with.

Make sure that you have addressed all aspects of the prompt. Analyze the topic and articulate a clear argument of what you have learned.

All requirements must be fulfilled to earn full points.

1. 2 full pages minimum, 3 pages maximum. Not meeting the page count or going over the page count will result in points deducted. The paper must be double spaced, 12-point font, 1 inch margins, organized in paragraphs and/or headers.
2. Two academic/scholarly peer reviewed sources. Sources may not be reused week-to-week. The course materials can be used in your paper but do not count towards the required sources. You must research. Wiki is not always a reliable or valid source do not use it for this assignment. It is required to use LBCC Library to search for sources.
3. Citations. You must include proper citations in your paper and in your reference page. Citations should be in APA or MLA format only. Direct quotes can be used but should be limited. Do not over cite with direct quotes (with the exception of 1-2 sentences as a direct quote). For directions on how to cite, refer to LBCC Multidisciplinary Success Center. There’s is also a link in the Course Information Module for citation support.
4. Cover page or title only on the main writing page. Choose one. Reference page. Cover and reference pages are not included in the page count. The reference page must include the proper link and/or DOI regardless of the citation style.
5. Your paper should be organized in paragraph format and/or with headers.
