Instructions
A literature review demonstrates your understanding of existing research and shows how your proposed study builds on or addresses gaps in the current literature. For this assignment, students will complete a first draft of their Literature Review that critically examines prior academic research related to their research question with a focus on the methodology used in past studies. This is not a simple summary of articles; instead, you should synthesize findings across studies and evaluate how previous research has approached the topic.
Your Literature Review should include most if not all of the following:
- Review relevant peer-reviewed academic studies
- Be organized thematically using appropriate subheadings
- Discuss the methods used in past research (it is a research methods class), including strengths and weaknesses
- Address issues such as generalizability, data sources, and outcomes examined
- Clearly identify gaps or unanswered questions in the literature that your proposed study will address
The Literature Review section should be about 4 pages long.
Feedback will be provided so this section can be revised for inclusion in the final research proposal.
Requirements: 4 pages
