Three potential healthcare topics I consider are: (1) nurse-led SBIRT in PTSD and depressed veterans, as workload pressure is associated with patient outcomes and retention; (2) safe staffing and nurse burnout, as workload pressure is an emerging and daily health determinant in adolescents; and (3) adolescent social media use and anxiety, because workload pressure is a rapid and daily health determinant in adolescents.

I would like to dwell on the topic of nurse-led SBIRT in veterans with PTSD and depression. I will use the so-called topic and concept approach to research questions, which implies that I will create the topic and concept as an open-ended research question that does not imply a yes/no answer (Writing Commons, 2023). The research question is as follows: How does the use of SBIRT, as administered by nurses, influence the outcome of alcohol use and management of mental health symptoms among veterans with PTSD and/or depression? I will compare the settings (primary care/behavioral health) and identify the obstacles to implementation and find findings that can be used in the literature.
