Use Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
Your client is a 62-year-old woman who is very emotional and upset because she just learned that her husband of 35 years has been cheating on her with a younger woman. She feels abandoned and humiliated and does not want any of her friends to know about her husbands behaviors. She has been feeling depressed, isolated, alone, and hopeless, and she said that she was too old to start over.
Select one of the Integrative models and explore how you would approach this case. Name and explain a few key concepts of the model you selected, note the role of the therapist in that model, and how change is viewed within the model. Then give several examples of how you would treat the family. Give examples of interventions that you would use and the goals that would guide those interventions. What would termination look like with this family?
Respond to the discussion and post a significant response to at least one other student. Cite your sources(s).
