Capstone Reflection

Assignment Purpose: This capstone assignment is designed to give you an opportunity to reflect deeply on the key concepts learned in the strategic management course and connect them with core knowledge of foundational business. You will identify five major strategic management concepts and explain how these concepts are built on three to four underlying principles from the business core (e.g., finance, marketing, operations). You will also apply each concept to an organization of your choice, demonstrating how the organization has implemented the strategic concept and evaluating the suitability of its application.

This assignment is more than a reflective exercise; it is a chance for you to summarize your learning and reinforce the key takeaways that will serve you in your future career.

Assignment Instructions:

1. Identify Five Key Concepts: Choose five strategic management concepts you learned during the course (e.g., competitive advantage, corporate governance, diversification strategy).
2. Explain Business Core Integration: For each of the five concepts, explain how it connects to three to four underlying business core concepts (e.g., from finance, marketing, operations, economics). Show how these core principles build into and support your understanding of the strategic concept.
3. Application to an Organization: Select a real-world organization and explain how it has implemented each of the five concepts. Provide specific examples and details to support your explanation.
4. Evaluate Suitability: For each example, assess whether the organizations implementation of the strategic concept was appropriate. Discuss whether the concept fits the organizations industry, business environment, and overall strategic objectives.
5. Reflection on Learning: Conclude with a thoughtful reflection on how the process of applying these concepts deepened your understanding of the course material. Consider how you will apply these lessons in your future professional endeavors.
6. Citations: Use APA format to cite and reference all external sources used in your assignment.
