    Homeostasis

In week one, we are learning how the cells and systems work together to survive. One process in which these systems work together is called homeostasis. The body is responding to a stimulus and acting to keep the body working properly. These responses may be external or internal. The mechanism involves a stimuli, hormone response, and a self-adjusting mechanism or feedback regulation. We will test our own bodys homeostasis looking at heart rate.

  • Ethics discussion Initial Question:In one paragraph, describe an issue where you have a strong opinion about what should or should not be considered right or wrong. Give an overview of the issue and your belief. In another paragraph, describe the system youre using to decide what is right or wrong in the first paragraph. How are you evaluating right and wrong? Namely, do you find that you are using a consequentialist ethical system, where you are evaluating rightness or wrongness based on the consequences of your actions? Are you using a deontological system, where things are right or wrong despite the consequences your stance creates? Or are you using a virtue-based system, where the right course of action depends on what advances human flourishing? (Note: Right now Im not so much interested in the system you might want to use. Im asking you to think through how youre instinctively evaluating the issue before you think about it critically)

Ethics assignment Instructions:

Look at the course’s use of Softball/Baseball as an analogy for the three levels (or layers) of Ethics. Now, using 3 full paragraphs, create your own non-sports analogy to explain the three levels of ethics.
