Guidelines Assignment Overview

In this paper you will comprehensively discuss a specific case study that you have chosen from the available cases. In this case study analysis, you should demonstrate a synthesis of your acquired knowledge from your business ethics course and apply it to the case study selected. In doing so, you should strive to introduce into creative solutions and flexible-critical thinking. Your analysis should be ethical in nature, not purely practical.

This case study analysis will contain the following sections:

For each case study you are to examine the case information through a critical lens and identify any issues, opportunities, or weaknesses in the companies strategy. Be sure to use outside research, websites, and data for your analysis. The body of this case study analysis needs to be at a minimum 5-7 pages in length (at least 1250 words excluding title page, abstract, and reference pages). Each case is submitted to the corresponding drop-box by the due date. All written projects should be submitted following APA 7th ed. All submissions should use 12-point typed, double-spaced and have 1 margins on all sides. Headings and page numbers are expected. The minimum page counts for each written project do not include the title page, abstract, reference page, or any appendices. A minimum of 3 source are required; one of them should be your case, another should be your textbook. Use APA format for citing references and preparing your reference list.


Your paper should have the following headings in your case study analysis (Introduction, Background Information, Alternative Solutions, Main Recommendation, & Ethical Importance)

1. Introduction

Identify the key issue and write a solid thesis statement in 1-2 sentences. As with any other paper, your case study introduction should serve as a roadmap for your readers.

Your introduction should not only identify the ethical problem and its significance. But also discuss why this specific case is being written and how it relates to addressing the problem.

A good introduction must answer the following questions:

  • What is being studied?
  • Why is the issue important to investigate?
  • How will this research advance new knowledge or ways of understanding?

2. Background Information

Incorporate relevant issues and facts and conduct extensive research on the problem. This is the point where you need to demonstrate how well you have researched your problem. This section of the paper should identify and provide analysis the root cause of the organizations ethical problem(s). The root cause should be described in such detail as to provide sufficient information for a discussion within this section of the paper and of proposed solutions/recommendations to be discussed in the next sections.


3. Alternative Solutions

Select and identify one of the Ethical Decision Making Formats (Chapter 2) to assist you with this section. This decision format should be mentioned in your paper. Use the steps of your chosen framework to highlight at least three alternative solutions for the problem to come up with the best solutions. Dont forget to briefly outline the most viable solutions and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages.


4. Main Recommendation

Always provide a realistic answer to the question asked in the case. Explain the rationale for choosing the solution and justify it. Explain why this solution is proved to be the best and support it with solid evidence.

You can also utilize concepts from class discussions, lectures, and text readings to help your view. Make sure you have incorporated outside research and personal experiences if necessary. Students should be able to substantiate their position by using respected theories and ethical/philosophical concepts within their work.

Here are the points that you need to focus on when writing recommendations

    • Choose which of the alternative solutions should be adopted.
    • Briefly write about your choice and explain how it will solve the problem.
    • Integrate the theory and coursework here.

5. Ethical Importance

Locate specific strategies to accomplish the solution. Suggest further actions and then outline the implementation plan. This section discusses the ethical importance of the case study.

    • Explain why studying a case like this is important to the subject of business strategy
    • Provide a strong closing statement.
    • Provides specific strategies for implementing the chosen solution.
    • Suggests further actions and implementation plans/ideas.

By demonstrating real world application of the ethical principles which guide businesses today, this assignment will aid in the formation of your own ethical philosophies as you take the leap into industry.
