I wish to continue my studies after having worked for several years as a lab aide in the Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics Unit at the Sherman Abrams Labs in Brooklyn, New York.
I am drawn to Brown University because it offers excellent opportunities for students interested in pursuing biomedical research. Brown’s world-class research facilities, renowned faculty and vibrant learning environment make it an ideal place to explore my passion for molecular biology and psychology. I am eager to contribute to the field by working diligently to find cures for complex diseases through biomedical research. Brown’s interdisciplinary approach aligns perfectly with my goal of pursuing a double major in psychology and molecular biology while taking additional neuroscience and cognitive science classes to gain insights into the biological basis of the mind and behavior. The university’s commitment to fostering a collaborative and diverse community resonates with my multicultural background as a Sudanese-American and my desire to learn from
diverse perspectives. I believe the university’s rich academic resources, including its strong psychology department and cutting-edge research in areas like cell microbiology and development, will equip me with a solid foundation in the biosciences and with ample research opportunities to prepare for graduate studies in biomedical research. I am confident that the Brown University’s interdisciplinary curriculum, supportive research environment, rich, vibrant and culturally diverse community make it the ideal institution for me to thrive academically and personally.
