The last component of the multistage exegetical paper assignment requires you to put all your thoughts and ideas into the final draft of your paper. This paper must be between 2,000-2,500 words and requires a minimum of six academic sources from the GCU Library. This assignment should follow the structure from the Vogt textbook.
Support your main points using the Bible, as well as including at least six academic sources of your class readings or the GCU Library. (Remember: You need to prove the points that you are making.)
For a Law Passage
If your passage is law, then you need to cover the following:
- Determine the context of the passage.
- Identify the kind of law(s) involved.
- Determine the nature of the legal requirement.
- Describe the purpose of the law in Israel.
- Identify applicability of the purpose in a contemporary context.
For a Narrative Passage
If your passage is narrative, then you need to cover the following:
- Establish the context of the passage.
- Identify and label the scenes in the narrative.
- Analyze the plot.
- Examine the details of the scenes.
- Identify the communicative intention of the author.
- Recontextualize the text for a contemporary setting.
When writing your paper, use the Bible, resources from the bibliography, feedback that you received in the first part of this assignment in Topic 2, and any additional academic resources to defend your argument.
Use the Accordance Bible software to complete this assignment. Additional sources outside of the GCU Library may be used with the instructor’s approval prior to usage.
