Assignment #5 DRAFT Research Proposal Methods

Assignment Description. The purpose of this assignment is to provide an opportunity for you to receive feedback on your draft Methods section before it is incorporated as part of your final proposal. The Methods section is where you will describe in detail how you plan to conduct your fictitious project, including data analysis. If you are new to writing a Methods section, please look at the Methods sections from some of the journal articles that you have been reading and analyze them for format and content (e.g. as examples or models for your work). This will help you get a sense of how they are constructed as well as what some of the common approaches are for quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods designs and your topic area of interest.

Document Formatting. Please double-space the document using 1-inch margins and 11- or 12-point font. In addition, please ensure that your draft Methods:

• Is 3-5 pages (NOT counting the list of references; 1-2 pages longer is OK but please no Methods sections longer than 7 pages absolute maximum)
• For this part of the assignment, you only need to include references in your listing that are cited in your Methods section; you will combine the reference listings from the Background and Methods sections when you prepare the final draft for your Capstone proposal.
• Uses subheadings appropriately.
• Has bottom-center page numbering.
