Assignment 1

For Assignment #1 you will have to analyze the Planet Money podcast “Auction fever” using the theory we’ve seen in class. The assignment deadline is Sunday, March 1st, at 11:59pm. The deadline is hard (you’ll get 0 for the assignment if you haven’t uploaded anything before the deadline). Sending me your work a few minutes or hours after the deadline (because your internet connection broke, or had some last minute issue, etc.) will not be accepted. So I strongly encourage you to have something ready by Saturday night. Your work consists of discussing what are the key difference(s) between the auction documented in the podcast and the auction models we saw in class, and why the theory we’ve seen can explain (or not) the auction documented in the podcast. You’re free to use AI to work on your assignment. You have a maximum limit of 2,000 characters (that includes spaces, punctuation, and line breaks). In a few days I’ll send you instructions to upload your work. Since you have a limit, you don’t need to put a title or references. The following are not permitted: – uploading something that is not related to the assignment (you’ll get 0) – uploading a copy of another student’s work (all the students with identical submission will get 0) – if the Turnitin score (and anti-plagiarism tool) is above 20% you’ll get a 0 (you’ll have access to your Turnitin score when submitting your work). If you upload on time your assignment and meet the above mentioned criteria (what’s not permitted), then you’ll get 100% on the assignment. I’ll use AI to “grade” your assignment for extra credit. I’ll give up to 4 points extra credit: 1 point for clarity and structure, 1 point for the English (grammar, syntax, spelling, etc), and 2 points for the content of your analysis.
