In this assignment you will apply the first six steps of the seven-step process of ethical decision-making process to a case and write an essay. This refers to the decision-making process covered in the online lecture and in the assigned viewing. Please note that we expect you to incorporate concepts from this and previous week’s required reading into your analysis. You can only do the first six steps because you do not know the outcome to reflect upon.
For this assignment you will analyze one of the following cases from the required textbook
- Case 6: I Want a Say, the twist will be Daniel’s sister wants to go to court to become his guardian, after feeling like her parents handled the situation regarding his care poorly/ What will this add to the complexity of the case in all questions raised.
- Case17: The Right to Breathe, the twist will be instead of a person who is incarcerated, let us make the main character a 13-year-old girl, Fiona, who is in foster care. How does this change the case? Analysis the situation for Fiona.
The assignment will be broken into 2 parts
Part 1: You will analyze your selected case though the first six step of the decision-making process described in the readings with the “twist ” added above
- Identify the ethical issue
- Reflect on personal bias and assumptions
- Gather relevant information
- Consider differing stakeholder values and interests
- Explore practical alternatives
- Make your choice and justify it using ethical theories, principles, and approaches explored in the class.
This portion of the assignment should have a word count of at least 800 words.
Part 2: Input the case data into an AI format of your choice, ask it: How would you solve this dilemma and share the response you receive.
This portion of the assignment will be whatever word count you receive from the AI generated response.
Part 3: Offer a reflection on what your thoughts were about the outcome of the case in comparison to what the AI response was.
This portion of the assignment should be approximately 200 to 300 words.
For the entire essay, all sources must be cited and referenced at the end of the essay, this is not included in your word count.
Your responses should be in essay format and follow the following formatting conventions:
- The essay should be between 1000 and 1250 words, excluding references, in total.
- The essay should be double spaced.
- The essay should include section headings.
- Works cited page and citations in APA Style: . At least three (3) sources should be used in completing this assignment–the assigned readings can be among them.
- For the entire essay, all sources must be cited and referenced at the end of the essay, this is not included in your word count.
